How to Reset Toyota Maintenance Light

2021 Toyota RAV4 dashboard

Let’s say you’re heading back from work when the Toyota “Maintenance Required” light pops onto your dashboard. What do you do? The Toyota maintenance light automatically lights up at certain intervals to remind you when your vehicle needs its scheduled care. But, what if you’ve already scheduled your service appointment with Post Oak Toyota? Some Oklahoma City drivers prefer to switch off the light in the meantime. Find out how to reset the Toyota maintenance light in a few simple steps, and get in touch with our team for quality car care in Midwest City.

Purpose of the Toyota “Maintenance Required” Light

Drivers are busy in Edmond, and sometimes simple maintenance falls by the wayside. The Toyota maintenance light will automatically turn on 5,000 miles after your last oil change to remind you it’s time for scheduled maintenance. While many dealerships offer maintenance, Post Oak Toyota has the benefit of Toyota factory-trained technicians who can perform services under ToyotaCare. Plus, our service specials will save you money on your next appointment!

Resetting the Toyota Maintenance Light at Home

When your Toyota maintenance light comes on, it’s important to schedule your service promptly to ensure that your car continues to perform at the highest level. You might need an oil change, brake check, battery check, or other basic inspections. Our service center can help you determine exactly what your car needs for your Shawnee travels ahead, so feel free to ask. But if you’d prefer to turn the light off in the meantime, learning how to reset a Toyota maintenance light only takes five steps.

  1. Place your key in the ignition and turn the car “On”, but don’t start the engine.
  2. Click and hold the trip reset button until you see “Trip A” on the center screen. Your trip reset button will be close to the odometer.
  3. Hold the trip reset button and turn the key to the “Off” position.
  4. Turn the back back to the “On” position.
  5. Continue holding the trip reset button until the odometer reaches 0. This will reset your Toyota “Maintenance Required” light.
